Chiropractic Care
At Andrew Gorman Chiropractic, our main focus is to remove interference to your nervous system to restore the body’s healing potential and decrease your pain and discomfort. To accomplish that, we use a whole range of techniques depending on what your symptoms are.
Our Chiropractic Techniques Include:
Activator Method®
This is a system of spinal evaluation combined with a handheld adjusting instrument that delivers a consistent, low-force thrust.
Applied Kinesiology
Testing the strength of specific muscles of your body helps us find structural, chemical and mental problems and monitor your results.
Chiropractic BioPhysics®
Clinical Biomechanics of Posture® is focused on producing improved posture, balance, spinal alignment and restoration of essential spinal curves.
Cox Flexion-Distraction
We use a special table so we can traction your spine, opening up the spacing between spinal vertebrae to relieve pressure.
Gonstead
We examine the location of individual bones and how they may differ from their normal position before correcting your spine.
Sacro-Occipital Technique
Sacro Occipital Technique helps normalize the relationship between the pelvis and the head, using gravity to make the necessary correction.
Thompson
Thompson Terminal Point technique is a system of analysis and a special table that reduces the amount of energy needed to adjust your spine.
Soft Tissue Work
In Dr Andrew‘s experience, there are 12-14 muscles in the body which cause the most problems. Dr Andrew knows how to target those problem muscles which can cause everything from headaches, shoulder problems, knee pain to back pain. He can get dramatic results in a few minutes by manipulating the muscles. “It’s quite surprising the difference that it makes.”
Visceral Adjustment
This is all about referred pain. Only 10% of the nervous system carries pain signals. 70% of nerves go to organs and 20% go to muscles, and the organs and muscles may refer their pain to elsewhere in the body. For example, a heart attack can give you left-sided neck, jaw, chest and arm pain.
We’ve had patients with stiff necks which aren’t responding to treatment. What has happened is that the stomach is jammed up under the diaphragm, affecting the breathing and in turn tightening the oesophagus, thus causing a stiff neck.
In these cases Dr Andrew has worked on the stomach and stretched the oesophagus by bending the neck. Patients have immediately felt far greater movement in the neck, even though he hasn’t adjusted it. Pain referral patterns like this exist throughout the human structure.
